Volunteer Opportunities

Last financial year Volunteer Task Force (VTF) enjoyed the services of a huge number of volunteers – 569.

Volunteer opportunities are in the following areas:

  • Gardening
  • Social Support
  • Meals on Wheels
  • Office

Volunteer opportunities are open to anyone with time to give who is suitable for the position.

Interested in volunteering? CONTACT US.

Gardening Volunteering

Gardening volunteers operate from our four depots – North Perth, Wanneroo, Safety Bay and Belmont – from 8 am to approximately 3 pm.

Gardening volunteers are asked to wear closed in boots/shoes/trainers with comfortable shorts or trousers that they are happy to get dirty. Branded shirts are provided for regular volunteers. We recommend wearing a hat and sunscreen and bringing a packed lunch and water. CLICK HERE for more information about our gardening service.

Social Support Volunteering

Social support volunteers work directly with clients, one-to-one or in a group. Activities include taking a client shopping, home visits, trips to a place of mutual interest, or supporting a group of clients on an outing or in a program. Social support volunteers use their own vehicle to transport clients and are reimbursed for fuel. If a social support volunteer does not have their own vehicle, they may be able to carry out home visits by using public transport.

If you are interested in social support volunteering, contact us to discuss opportunities and  availability. We make every effort to match volunteers and clients on convenience, location and mutual interest. Social support volunteering requires as little as two hours per fortnight. Meals on Wheels Volunteering

In 2010, VTF acquired a Meals on Wheels service to City of Fremantle, City of Cockburn and Mosman Park. Volunteers deliver meals to clients three days a week, using their own vehicles. Fuel is reimbursed. Volunteers have a number of meals to deliver to their particular client, one, two or three mornings a week, depending on availability and choice. Office Volunteering

VTF has a small number of office volunteers who support front desk and finance staff. These roles are varied and a good basic knowledge of the agency is required. Office staff must respect confidentiality guidelines and observe the agency’s policies. Interested volunteers should CONTACT US to discuss opportunities.

Why Volunteer?

Most volunteers are looking to do something worthwhile, improve their resume, contribute to something meaningful in their community or improve their social circle.

Groups also find volunteering a great way to build their team, help their community and learn new skills. Groups include school, corporate, social and church groups. CLICK HERE for more information about group volunteering opportunities.

VTF volunteers are out and about in the community, making presentations on the benefits of volunteering and encouraging participation in Volunteer Task Force. This year we attended numerous community group activities and community events including women’s motivational groups, universities, Rotary clubs, community fetes and seniors fairs.

If you would like a VTF representative to speak to your group or work place, please CONTACT US on 9318 5700 or email kath.snell@volunteertaskforce.org.au
